PDF in Smart-Information- does it make sense?

In this article we will look at the possibilities of using PDF in the Smart-Information.

We have set up our lives with smartphones and tablets. The smartphone has grown to become the No. 1 information platform in almost all areas. And then our product managers and technical writers come along with 2500 pages of paper as instructions for a construction crane? At best, they email us the 2500 pages in PDF. How forward-looking is that? PDF was the revolution.

(Almost) all prepress challenges and problems were solved in one fell swoop. That was 30 years ago. What of it remains as an indispensable benefit, what of it has become superfluous in the Smart-Information? In which areas will PDF survive permanently as a niche format because it will remain superior to other more modern formats? And where do we need PDF for the time being, because a switch to alternatives is not feasible overnight? In this article we will look at the possibilities of using PDF in the Smart-Information.
