Smart-Information: New blog series
In this blog post, the Smart-Information briefly introduces itself.
To achieve a comprehensive picture of Smart-Information in practice, we need both conceptual perspectives - from the point of view of writers and users - and technical perspectives on the creation, management, and delivery of Smart-Information. The Smart-Information delivers these different views through different posts.
Smart-Information?
Information is known, needed and shared. But what exactly is "smart" about it? If you ask a mixed audience of speakers from the field of "digital service-providers", the answer you get is that Smart-Information is intelligent and available at the right time, networked and dynamic. Can information actually be intelligent? The tekom trade association is in favor of this and defines intelligent information as product information that is enriched with metadata and is therefore easier to find, more readily available and more meaningful.
Smart-Information!
So how does the metadata get to the product information? And how do you ensure the networking and availability of information? This problem raises conceptual and technical process issues that affect not only technical writing but also the management and central IT system landscape of a company. Our new blog series - written by #techcomm experts for experts experts - is dedicated to precisely these practical questions on the implementation of Smart-Information. As part of this cooperation, various articles will appear on our respective blogs, which will complement or overlap each other in terms of content, as each of our authors has their own unique perspective on this complex topic. For example, there is the perspective of processes in technical documentation and throughout the company. Here, a look at the editorial as well as the technical component of information creation is necessary. Then there is the view of the data with its structure and organization; here, too, editorial and technical views are necessary. The same applies to the provision of information: here, the focus is on user needs and technical implementation. To achieve a comprehensive picture of Smart-Information in practice, we need both conceptual perspectives - from the point of view of writers and users - and technical perspectives on the creation, management, and delivery of Smart-Information.
Which experts?
Who can provide these perspectives? Already in 2018, 6 companies came together to form a network with the Smart-Information eXperts (SIX) to advance the topic of Smart-Information on Demand with the necessary techniques and processes. Stated goal: Provide information that is tailored to needs and reader-friendly, and improve technical documentation on mobile devices. This path from the creation to the preparation and organization to the provision of Smart-Information is a complex process, which we want to illuminate in detail in the "Smart-Information Blog" in the near future. Partly by representatives the SIX, partly by other experts. May we introduce?

die wirtschaftlich eindeutigen Vorteile sofort zu nutzen? Es ist an der
Zeit!
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Thiele - Thiele Documentation + Technical University of Central Hesse

Smart-Information verstehen wir als strukturierten und
vernetzten Aufbau von Produktdaten, welche einen durchgängigen Informationsfluss
im Unternehmen bis zum Endanwender ermöglichen.
Stefan Dierßen - DiNovum GmbH
As a mechanical engineer, Stefan Dierßen focused on the digital mapping of product data at an early stage and today deals with data architectures to enable end-to-end information processes.
And further?
We at c-rex.net know how to structure and network information and have the necessary technology to do so. With interfaces between different information systems we enable the exchange among each other. What contribution this system communication can make to Smart-Information management will be the subject of our next blog article.
